Arcadis Welcomes Jeffrey Till as Principal in San Francisco Placemaking Practice

5 Tips for Choosing the Perfect Paint Colors for Your Home

Arcadis announced the appointment of Jeffrey Till, AIA LEED AP, as Principal in their Placemaking practice in San Francisco. Till will play a key role in establishing and growing the firm’s placemaking team, with a strong focus on architecture and urbanism. In his new role, he will lead efforts in sustainable urbanism and design excellence, while expanding the practice, developing top talent, and bridging the disciplines of placemaking and architecture.

With over 30 years of experience across North America, Asia, and Europe, Till brings extensive expertise in mixed-use, master-planned developments, with a portfolio spanning hospitality, multifamily, entertainment, and workplace projects. His commitment to architecture, urban design, and sustainable urbanism guides his work toward creating zero-carbon, healthy, and enduring places. Aligned with Arcadis' mission, Till will lead interdisciplinary teams in sustainable urbanism—from urban master plans to exceptional building designs—helping clients and communities clearly see the positive impact of Arcadis' projects.

“Jeff’s expertise in sustainable urban design and architecture matches perfectly with the goals of our Architecture and Urbanism practice at Arcadis,” said Trevor McIntyre, Principal, Global Practice Group Director - Placemaking at Arcadis. “The future of placemaking across the nation is bright, with redevelopment and adaptive reuse at the forefront of this transformation. Till’s commitment to tailored placemaking will be evident in the impact of his work.”

Till approaches placemaking in a way tailored to each site and its people. In a city like San Francisco, for example, a two- to three-acre site can have a significant impact, with the potential to connect neighborhoods, offer diverse uses, and provide much more than just shelter. Arcadis’ design solutions will be hyperlocal, reflecting the values of both clients and the surrounding community. Placemaking in San Francisco begins with careful listening, patience, and the ability to convey how each decision will feel. Till believes the city’s unintentional quirkiness and charm are key, and finding ways to integrate these qualities into a plan or building design makes the work rewarding.

“California is open to new ideas for placemaking, particularly when it comes to finding solutions for the high cost of horizontal infrastructure needed to support redevelopment,” said Till. “Arcadis’ leadership in energy, water, embodied and operational carbon, and human-centered design will be instrumental in bringing these innovative ideas to life.”

Jeffery Till’s appointment underscores Arcadis’ commitment to expanding its placemaking practice in San Francisco. In his role, Till will enhance Arcadis’ ability to create sustainable urban spaces and buildings, both in California and beyond.
